Ways your lived experience has helped you?

So my lived experience has helped me in my life though my studies when topics come up in a group discussion, being able to help others understand the possible thoughts, feelings, emotions and how I have handled things previously and how it builds rapport with others who have shared similar experiences in their life.

It has also pushed me in a different career direction than I was doing for years and the drive to give hope and support to others on their own journeys.

To end up taking new opportunities for  learning and growth both personal and professional change and upskill.

😊

Re: Ways your lived experience has helped you?

For me, lived experience has given me the compassion for other people I don't think I would otherwise have. It's hard to explain, but I'm not the person I am today if it wasn't for my mental health. @HelloKitty1981 and others reading on.

I think my lived experience has taught me to be brave in ways I never thought possible.

my lived experience has taught me to be brave , to keep on keeping on , never give up , taking one step at a time

but I never thought that I could help others like I do here  on the forum

Re: Ways your lived experience has helped you?

My lived experience has given me  compassion of what someone is going through, with myself going through difficult times in my life, I now have more understanding of how to support

Others on their journey.

very true @sheba30 , totally agree 😊

Re: Ways your lived experience has helped you?

In countless ways, it's made me who I am.

It's made me strong, humble, open minded, compassionate and curious. It taught me when to slow down and what's truly important in life.

My lived experience has made me a better person.

Re: Ways your lived experience has helped you?

Hello @MermaidHair

I can really relate to your post. My lived experience has also made me more

Humble, kinder, to think before I speak,

And accepting of peoples opinions that

Are different to mine. But I also think

It's a bit of old age too lol.

Re: Ways your lived experience has helped you?

I really want to write the exact same sentence @MermaidHair

My lived experience has made me into a better person.

I feel I am better father, better friend, better colleague and a better member of the community.

Gosh who would have thought the journey would take us here.

Thanks for the reflections.
