AD and restless legs

I've been on AD now for over 2 months. After the initial reactions to going on the meds I felt great. My anxiety and panic was at a level where I could go back to work. But in the last few weeks I've developed restless legs esp during the night, and early morning. Has anyone else had this and how did you go? I'm hoping it will pass, as I said for my other issues they have been really helpful.

Re: AD and restless legs

Hi @Yellow are the restless legs something you have mentioned to the GP or a known side effect of the AD you're taking? Sometimes ADs can take 6-8 weeks to start working. I would definitely make a GP appointment if it is affecting your sleep. As a good night's sleep is so important to self-care and staying well with MH.

Re: AD and restless legs

Yes I'm seeing my GP next week. I've read online that it can be a side effect but it has been a while and I felt quite settled for a few weeks. I'm not sure if it's the sleeplessness but it's playing up my anxiety every time it happens, which is every night!

Re: AD and restless legs

Hi @Yellow

I have a REM Sleep disorder had it checked out with a sleep clinic and take meds for it at night.  I think it is allies wise to get things checked with GP and specialists if required.

cheers

Re: AD and restless legs

I had terrible restless leg syndrome. I stopped taking the antipsychotic meds for a few months and it disappeared. I had to take them again and strangely it hasn't come back. It's so disturbing though I remember not being able to get to sleep. I feel for you. Maybe try a different med but that's trouble in itself I know. Good luck. Xx
