Re: Not sure what to do !!!

What do we do next ??? @Dimity , @Jynx , @hanami

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Did the gp give you any mh referral like a psychologist or psychiatrist?

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Mr shaz has soo many labels but no final diagnosis @Dimity

But they are saying he needs to change his thinking

Only on antidepressants  now which is all he has taken this year , he needs help

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Saw one today @Dimity and have another meeting on Friday

Mr shaz is already saying that they are not listening

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Aww @Shaz51 sounds like you two are having a rough time getting some straight answers. I think it's one of the frustrating things about MH - diagnosis can be a tricky process that isn't always straightforward.

You've got a general idea of what is happening for him - you could seek a second opinion, you could look into treatment options for what you already know, you could look for a therapist who specialises in ADHD/BP.

What did they mean about changing his thinking do you reckon?

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

@Shaz51 sounds like Mr shaz wants support and empathy but if they want him to change his thinking it could be a different approach like learning CBT or ACT... it's early days but I hope he manages to connect with the psych

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

@Jynx with his overthinking,  perfectionism and sleeplessness,  he is thinking people are talking behind his back

Keep telling him that not everyone will like him or want him to do things for them

Think he needs more than antidepressants

What's wrong with him wanting to retire and go on a pension instead of 3 years time when he is 66

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Yes Mr shaz wants support but he feels he is getting nothing @Dimity , @Jynx

It is like all his past is all written down and passed  on with a label already 😔

Not sure what to do next

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

@Shaz51 aye it would really make a difference to know that retirement was just around the corner hey! Three years can feel both like the longest time ever, and also fly by. It's hard though with the time blindness, it's almost impossible to actually comprehend how long three years is supposed to feel like. Could be good to keep bringing it to his focus, cos having something to look forward to makes a huge difference for me. Can help him to care less about how things are going because soon it'll all be done anyhow.

Is he medicated for his ADHD? Sounds like he's really getting hit hard by the RSD. I just found some neat lil tips for coping with RSD, maybe see if he can work on some of these? ADDitude Mag also has some good info about it here and even more tips for handling it here.

Maybe you two could work on some positive affirmations together. If you make it into an activity for both of you, it might help him to feel less 'pathologised' if that makes sense. Plus, bonus is you get to also feel good about yourself too!

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

@Jynx

No medication for his adhd

He is only on antidepressants which must not be working

Thank you for the tips and links 😊

I am a very positive person but I am feeling very tired

Wow love your links
