@Adge, ganache is the fudgy chocolate stuff that they put on top of chocolate mud cakes. Very nice.
I agree, starting a tradition of treating yourself for Christmas sounds good. Maybe buy some nice treats for a picnic lunch or morning tea, and take it out somewhere attractive... botanic garden, bushland, beach, ??? (Weather permitting, of course.)

Thanks for your motivating ideas @Smc & @Former-Member
Really good ones, helpful.
Should go to botanic gardens, haven't been there in several years (I think).
The challenge is that I don't like going out (recreation) on my own, without company (with me).
So I tend to stay at home, when not working or not going to appointments (or yoga).
The council community Christmas lunch (a long way away, 30Km drive) will give me opportunity to be with people on Christmas day (for 2 hours) - friendly people, yet strangers who you never see again.
It's a Basic peas & corn meal, with a small piece of meat (I've been there before) - they don't cater for vegetarians.
Definitely need to do those other things you suggested (or some of).
I've always been still going to my Thursday Yoga class - it's the early Saturday (8am)(2nd class) that I've been missing.
Then I did an extra Trauma Yoga (specialised) yoga course/class, that went for 5 weeks - finished 2 weeks ago.

There are quite a few things I prefer to do solo @Adge . Started many years ago, on my RDOs I would go out for lunch to try out the different cafes near to where we lived at the time. I would usually take a magazine. In more recent times it has mainly been activities like shopping, looking in art galleries (in major cities will join free tours on offer), dog walking & gardening club.

@Adge, you eat fish, don't you? If so, could you bring along a small treat of your own to add to the "peas and corn" lunch? Something that's nice enough cold with cooked vegs?
S'funny... I realised last night that we've been "unintentionally vegetarian" for most of our meals this week. Veggie flan was followed by two evenings of "frozen dinners" (veg spring rolls, potato gems and salad/roast sweet potato) followed by pickle sandwich plus chips and four chicken nuggets (I said most, not all. 🙂 ). Last night was going to be tuna mornay and rice, but I discovered we were out of tuna, so I did a veg casserole and rice instead.

Sounds good @Smc Yes I eat fish, tuna mornay is one of my favourites.
Your meals this past week sound tasty & creative, even if you weren't intending to have that.
I've never thought of taking extra food to a community meal.
If I do, it might help me to feel more "catered for", instead of left out of the equation (catering arrangements).
Thanks.

Hi @Former-Member Good on you for enjoying doing some things solo - like cafes, art galleries & gardening club.
Solo is my only option generally - unless I hire a group of people to come with me.
Which is exactly what I did just over 2 years ago - when I booked several long tour bus trips down south (very expensive).
That was the only way I could make myself go those long distances (about 1000 Km trip each) - without having to drive there on my own, & with company (interstate tourists).
That was the last holiday I had - several years without a holiday, before that one.
