She is now 30kms away now which is better for us but did not know anything 

The doctor rang to apologise for what had happened

I finally got to talk to mum after lots of phone calls and her responses tells me she must have dementia

Oh no @Shaz51 what a stuff-up. It doesn't give you much confidence in that doctor or the records. I hope you can straighten it out. 

I also hope your mum is now closer to home so you can visit. So many hospitals. Fingers crossed the rehab goes well.

And I hope you're OK.

I know nothing, but is she on pain meds or something that might be affecting her cognitive abilities instead of dementia? (Obviously you know more about every part of the scenario than I do)

I am glad it all worked out in the end but it certainly didn't happen in the right way.

So glad she's closer @Shaz51 . Dad got confused and disoriented in hospital too. Just take care she wasn't prescribed a psych medication for agitation, Dad reacted badly. He came good afterwards.
